What is FIREfly and why FIREfly?
FIREfly is a joint human resource collaboration that is initiated by six statutory boards, namely Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), JTC Corporation (JTC), National Science and Technology Board (NSTB), Singapore Productivity and Standards Board (PSB), Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Singapore Trade Development Board (TDB).

It aims to recruit and develop officers with broad-based knowledge and leadership skills to face the economic and technological challenges in the knowledge based economy. It offers an excellent opportunity for officers to network, learn and develop themselves beyond their own agency. Relevant training and leadership opportunities will be provided to officers yearning for a fulfilling career. All officers stand to benefit from wider career development opportunities under FIREfly.

The six agencies will pull their resources together to address key areas like talent attraction, talent retention, training, leadership & career development, succession planning and inter-agency effectiveness.

Why the 6 statutory boards? Is there any intention to invite other agencies to join FIREfly?
FIREfly, at this initial stage, is a human resource collaboration amongst the six statutory boards under Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry tasked with the economic and technological development of Singapore. They are the main engine drivers for Singapore's economic growth. Once the FIREfly framework is well established, other agencies may be invited to be part of the collaboration to enhance the career development of human talent.

Are there plans for FIREfly agencies to collaborate on operational areas in addition to the current HR collaboration?
FIREfly, at this moment, is established mainly for human resource and career development tailored for officers in all the participating agencies. Operationally, the FIREfly agencies will remain independent and autonomous.

What is the selection process for FIREfly recruitment? Will I be interviewed by representatives from all the FIREfly agencies?
The FIREfly recruitment process is easy and efficient. As a candidate, you can apply directly through this website or by mail for the positions advertised by the respective FIREfly agency of your choice. Once you are shortlised, the respective FIREfly agency will respond to your application by inviting you for an interview following the usual selection process.

If I am interested in more than 1 position advertised in the FIREfly recruitment advertisement, do I apply for these positions in one application or do I have to submit separate applications?
FIREfly offers flexibility and one-stop service for candidates, wishing to apply for their desired positions in various agencies. You can apply for multiple positions in multiple agencies by submitting a single on-line application.

Will the FIREfly agencies share a common set of terms and conditions?
Although FIREfly aims to pool resources for better career development for officers, FIREfly agencies still retain their individual terms and conditions of service and autonomy in their operations.

How does FIREfly benefit me?
As part of FIREfly, your career development will no longer be confined to your current agency. In the course of your career, you may be seconded to another agency to gain breadth and depth of work experience.

On the training front, there will be a wider array of training courses as all FIREfly agencies will be sharing their training calendars. Therefore, there will be increased learning opportunities beyond the scope of your Board. This is important as you may then be able to gain a macro understanding of the works of the different agencies and learn about areas that are outside your Board's focus. You will also get the chance to network with your peers from other agencies. This is part of our overall human resource initiative to train and develop potential leaders for the economic future of Singapore.
